2007

This year has been quite the adventure, mainly focused around our little angel. We found out I was pregnant is January and then the year focused all around her! I got to retire in June and hopefully I won't have to go back to work for a very long time!

Life will never be the same for Mike and I, and that is a very good thing. Cailtyn is challenging and frustrating at times, like when she won't sleep and eat (which is everyday). Yet, I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world! Next year will be full of more firsts in her life and ours and we are excited to see what each new day will bring!

I am reminded everyday how blessed we are to be able to help this little spirit through this life. It's a very daunting and overwhelming task, but it has many more ups than downs.

3 Months

So we made it to 3 months and we are all still alive and semi awake! It really is crazy how time goes by so fast. Caitlyn and I pretty much do the same thing everyday and you would think that time would go very very slow that way, but it doesn't. She is growing up so much! She has started babbling and I swear that most of the time she is telling me off and talking back all ready! I will do something that she doesn't like and then she will proceed to babble on and on in a matter of fact tone! She is still the most opinionated, stubborn, and most loved baby that I know!! My world wouldn't be nearly as complete without her in it and I am reminded every day how blessed Mike and I are to have her in our lives and be entrusted to take care of her!! I almost forgot, Caitlyn laughed for the first time last week. It was great and Mike was there to hear it and it made the day worthwhile!

Let it snow...

In the last two weeks we have had two big storms that have left a ton of snow in our yard! Mike wanted to take Caitlyn out to build a snowman, but she is a little young for that. So he just held her and I took a picture. She didn't seem to like to snowflakes to much when they landed on her face, she doesn't like that wind either!

The other pictures are of us singing her favorite song, "once there was a snowman...tall tall tall, in the sun he melted...small small small." She doesn't like the small part to much because she hates laying down! She always has to be sitting or standing, she's only 12 weeks old and all ready very opinionated!!!!

Bubbles

So like a new mom I always think that my baby is doing the cutest things all of the time. About 2 weeks ago Caitlyn started blowing bubbles with her mouth. I thought that it was so cute and that she was the smartest baby in the world. Now she just drools everywhere and I realize that it's not as cute and that every baby does it. But I still think that she is the cutest baby around!!!

Blogger Tag

Because the last post embarrasses Mike (he doesn't think he is that great)he has been wanting me to update the blog. However, Caitlyn just had her first series of immunizations and has been kind of cranky, so I haven't had time. Therefore, here is something simple.

Since Mike's friend Nikki tagged us a while back, for fun last night we both came up with six facts about ourselves that others might not know. Mike swore he wouldn't participate, but he did, so here we go:

Mike's six things:

1). He hates when people lick their fingers after they eat. If you want to gross him out and annoy him, lick your fingers.

2). He hates being in his bare feet. He wears socks from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to bed. He also never wears sandals.

3). Before he met me he had not missed a BYU football home game in 13 years – that is 80 straight games. He didn’t have much of social life!

4). He hates science fiction and fantasy. He may be the only person who has never seen “Lord of the Rings”, who has never read Harry Potter, and who absolutely hates “Star Wars.”

5). He never really watched cartoons as a kid, but he loved and still loves Charlie Brown, especially “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Bon Voyage Charlie Brown.”

6). He hates clutter. He lives by the motto, “A place for everything and everything in its place.”

Julie's Six Things:

1). I was a cheerleader in high school. I will rarely, if ever, admit this.

2). I hate horror movies and anything scary because they give me nightmares. Mike thinks I am crazy because I will still watch shows like Ghost Whisperer and Medium, which he thinks are kind of creepy, but they don't scare me.

3). I have a Masters Degree in Public Health. This is another thing that I will rarely admit, but Mike is very proud of me for achieving this and made me put it on here.

4). In high school I dated a guy who now plays in the NFL. Because Mike works for a garbage company, he jokes that I made some really poor choices in life, but I wouldn't trade him for anything!

5). When I am especially tired, I can sleep for 16 + hours in one stretch. I don’t think that will happen anytime soon since Caitlyn has joined our family.

6). I have lived in Utah, Texas, and California.

So there you go, twelve things you probably didn't care to know about us. Now I am tagging Mary and Jeff, Jon and Carly, Savanah, and Rebecca and Bryce.

Grateful

So I am taking a cue from my friend Jamie to take time to note what I am most grateful for. First it has to be my husband Mike. He is the greatest husband in the whole world. I know your thinking that everyone says that, but I have solid reasons to back that statement up. Just a few things that you should remember while reading this list; I hate toilets and sleep is one of the most precious things to me!!
1. He wakes up early on Saturday and Sunday and takes care of Caitlyn for me so that I can sleep!!!
2. He cleans toilets! He also cleans the kitchen and does the dishes and many other chores around the house that I fall far far behind on!!
3. He also changes diapers and takes such good care of our daughter. He loves her more than anything else in the world.

4. If you know Mike you know that he is just an overall kind person. He really is the kindest nicest person that you will ever meet. He just wants people that he loves, his family, to be happy and will do anything to make them happy. He is the youngest of five boys and his Mom referred to him as her ray of sunshine, and he really is that to me and those people around him!!
5. He loves the Lord more than anything, even his daughter, I'm a close third! He would do anything and does everything that the Lord asks him to do. He is always willing to help other people because this is the way that he feels he can give a little back to the Lord after all that He has given him and us.
6. Last but certainly not least, he makes me so happy and secure and he is the reason that I have my sweet little Caitlyn, who I will expound upon tomorrow!

Grandma Cathy

Our sweet little Caitlyn gets her middle name from her Grandma Cathy who passed away three years ago - November 14, 2004. We were honored to give her this name and hope she will always know how much her Grandma Cathy loves her.

I love you mom! Thanks for helping send down our sweet little angel!
